Average Beer Snob

Why PBR is right down my ally and the logic of it all

pbrI often pretend to be a beer snob, but at times I enjoy the simpler things in life, such as Pabst Blue Ribbon and Simpler Times.  I can get a six pack of one of these and devour them in a heart beat (with a headache later on of course), but I will kick and scream if someone tries to make me drink a Coors Light or Bud Light or Michelob Light or Miller Light, actually any beers those ‘breweries’ ‘brew’ for that matter.

While up a telephone pole at work today I was wondering, “average beer snob who sucks at blogging, why will you drink some scummy beer but not others?”  I really started to ponder this question and I thought maybe it had to do with wanting to be a cool hipster or rockabilly, since we all know they drink these beers.

But, as I thought about that, I realized I didn’t want to spend every extra dollar I had on PBR and a pack of Parliament Lights because I squandered all my cash on parts for my fixie and as much coke as possible (probably purchased from the same dude, diversification my friends.  It’s how business succeeds!  Just ask GM!).  And I really don’t want to have a pompadour and listen to the same songs over and over and pretend to act like I can tell the difference between them.

I was up that telephone pole for a good 30 minutes and came down more confused than ever about this topic.  I would really enjoy some help on why these 2 beers are acceptable to me, but their counter parts are far from it.  Why are they “right down my alley”?
